ABSTRACT
Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are widely used in many areas, such as medicine, food, and environmental protection. In particular, AgNPs have been used as an antimicrobial agent to control fungal infections. This study aimed to synthesize and evaluate AgNPs from Strobilanthes kunthiana extract for its potential use as a fungal treatment. The AgNPs were synthesized from the leaf extract of S. kunthiana using a chemical reduction method. The prepared AgNPs were characterized for particle size, morphology, and elemental composition. The antifungal activity of the AgNPs was evaluated against different fungal species, namely, Candida albicans using the agar well diffusion method. The results showed that the AgNPs had a spherical shape. The AgNPs showed good antifungal activity against all the tested fungal species. The results of this study indicated that S. kunthiana leaf extract could be used as a potential source for the synthesis of AgNPs, which could be used as a natural antifungal agent.
